Online Safety
At Eaton Primary School keeping children safe is at the heart of everything which we do, at school, outside of school and online.
We understand that the online world is accessed by children from a young age and our curriculum reflects this. Through our PSHE and computing lessons, assemblies and class discussions, children learn how to use technology and the internet safely. They learn about the ways that technology can be used in a fun and positive way, such as communicating with friends and family, playing games or watching a video to learn or practice a new skill. They also learn about the dangers which can be present online and to recognise potentially unsuitable material, as well as how to report if something happens online. Within school we have a robust filtering and monitoring system which stops children from viewing content which is not age appropriate. In class, staff monitor children while they are online.
You can find out more about where in the curriculum online safety is covered specifically in the document below. Throughout the rest of the PSHE curriculum, discussions about healthy relationships and positive interactions cover behaviours online, as well as off-line.
We recognise that working with parents and carers is the most effective way to ensure that consistent messaging is given to the children. To support families with online safety and to ensure that parents are up-to-date with online safety, we send out a monthly online safety newsletter, as well as The National Colleges’ #WakeUp Wednesday posters which focus on specific apps or trends.
